Health and Environment in Ghana: Driving Sustainable Change Through Community Action

Promoting Health Through Environmental Sustainability

At Access Smile Foundation, improving public health goes beyond medical support it begins with creating a clean, safe, and sustainable environment. As a community-focused NGO, the Foundation recognizes that environmental conditions directly affect the well-being of people, especially in inner-city communities and underserved rural areas. With increasing concerns around climate change and poor sanitation, the Foundation remains committed to initiatives that protect both human health and the environment.

Clean-Up Campaigns in Kumasi

In December 2019, Access Smile Foundation partnered with Zoomlion and the Ashanti Youth for Sanitation to carry out extensive clean-up exercises in Kumasi and surrounding communities. These sanitation activities were designed to:

  • Improve environmental hygiene
  • Reduce waste accumulation
  • Prevent disease outbreaks

As part of this initiative, approximately 64 concrete waste bins were donated to the Old Tafo Municipality to support proper waste management and encourage responsible disposal practices.
